Principles of Ayurveda
Ayurveda operates on 4 foundational principles in my opinion.
Balance
Awareness
Natural Ability
Synergy
Balance:
Balance in bodily doshas- Vata, Pitta, Kapha as per your basic constitution
A well balanced Agni
Balance in bodily wastes- stools, urine, sweat
Balance with the seasonal changes
Balance in mind and body…and Soul
Balance brings Peace.
Various treatments, therapies, tools that Ayurveda uses are aimed at restoring these balances.
Awareness
Awareness is everything. It starts with the awareness that - There is more to life than meets the eyes.
Ayurveda puts tremendous emphasis on awareness.
We being aware of ‘why’ we are doing these changes, ‘what’ effects we are experiencing is the key to health restoration.
Awareness brings willingness.
Natural Ability
Ayurveda believes in body’s natural ability to heal itself. It considers body as part of the nature surrounding us and relies on 100% natural remedies for health restoration, disease elimination and prevention.
I can really go on and on about this principle, but that’s for another blog-post.
Natural ability brings energy.
Synergy
Once we are Aware of our Natural Ability, our body finds it easier to restore the Balance. Utilizing natural means, optimal functionality of body and mind can be restored. This synergy in body, mind, environment is essential for healthy living.
A healthy life brings ‘love’ for living, for everyone, everything. Life becomes simple.
Ayurveda emphasizes patient participation and responsibility to create such synergistic effect.
