Abhyanga & Anti-aging
Aging is inevitable.
The question is ‘Can we delay it, slow it? How can we age gracefully?’
Anhyanga Massage may have the answer.
Aging is a natural cycle- faced by everything that is living or even existing.
Us humans, animals, plants and mountains- all age and that’s the part of the equation of existence.
But what is aging?
As per Ayurveda, aging does not have to be time-bound. It does not mean grey hair or baldness too.
If one is able to have all their bodily functions working well, faculties intact and is fully functional and able to maintain a child-like innocent, curious, playful attitude, then they have aged gracefully as per Ayurveda.
Of-course, in Vata phase of life, (after 60), the aging process becomes more visible- the skin shows wrinkles, bones crack, movements become slow…we all know it.
Ayurveda asks ‘How we can slow this process?’
The answer lies in limiting the Vata aggravation.
And that’s what Abhyanga Massage does. It soothes two master channels of the body- Nervous system and Endocrine system.
It is: (pardon Sanskrit words from ancient texts)
Sharira Drudhata: Tones up body, provides strength to tissues
Sutwak: Well-being of skin
Mruja-prada: Improves complexion
Vata-Shamana: Pacify Vata dosha (key factor in aging)
Vyayam-sahatva: Increases endurance
Shram-hara: Reduces fatigue
Klesh-sahatva: Reduces pain
Aghata-sahatva: Increases pain bearing capacity
Upachit-anga: Helps weight control
Drushti-prasad: Improves vision
Dosh-hara: Removes toxins
Manda-Jaratva: Delays ageing process
Nidra-Karatva: Induces sound sleep
Bala-prada: Improves strength
Shati-prada: Calming, very relaxing
Sounds unrealistic? overhyped?
Well, you must experience it to believe it…like they did.
