Treatment Process

  • The patient is made to sit in a comfortable position with both legs extended.

  • The mold/dam is fixed on one or both knees made with the assistance of kneaded black gram dough of suitable height.

  • Medicated oil of suitable temperature is poured inside the prepared wall and retained for about 30 – 40 minutes. The heat of the oil is maintained throughout the procedure by soaking and replacing the cooled oil.

  • At the end of the procedure, the dough is removed, a delicate massage is given over the area and client is advised to rest for a while

  • Usually, Janu Basti is followed by hot steam fomentation therapy as it helps the oil to penetrate deeply into the muscle tissues.

After-care

  • You can drive home after.

  • It is advised to not to have a shower for at least an hour to gain the full benefits of the massage.

  • As the medicated oil and specific methods drives the toxins from the deeper connective tissues back to the gastrointestinal tract for proper elimination, is advised to consume some warm water and take some rest after the massage.

  • Avoid long travel and busy shopping centres.

  • Avoid going to beach and extreme weather conditions.
