Why should I explore Ayurveda treatments?

How many times we hear following- "The exact cause of this disease is not known?"

Sentences similar to this are reason enough to explore Ayurvedic perspective on health and healing.

Ayurveda treatments focus not only on the physical body but also the energetic aspects which are integral part of who we are i.e. our emotions, our mind and the subtle essence of our Life- which some call Spirit or Soul.

Ayurveda system is not a magic cure but it encompassess biochemical model of Allopathy (modern medicine), naturopathy, body work and other subtle therapies and, honors the most fundamental aspect of life- 'change'.

What is the difference in modern Medicine and Ayurveda?

Ayurveda acknowledges that in today’s world, sometimes we have to use surgeries, antibiotics and other useful methods of allopathy. There is no substitute for allopathy and modern medicine when it comes to treating acute conditions.

There is no doubt that modern medicine has made great advances in terms of treatments, surgical procedure and diagnostics. On the other hand, we can see that it is still evolving in a way. To give couple of examples- same sex relationships were considered as a mental disorder not too long ago and Endometriosis pain was considered as 'something in head' until very recently and, there is not yet adequate explanation in modern medicine re how and why toxins are formed in the body.

Ayurveda recognises the truth that 'all matter is energy'- a concept proved thousands years later by Einstein’s equation E=MC2.

(In words of William Dean, MD, Washington) modern Medicine model is a biological model which sees health based mainly on biological parameters, as opposed to the Ayurveda model of energy science based on thousands of years of experience, wisdom of the sages who observed the energetic nature of external and internal life with internal perception, introspection, concentration and meditation and were able to even name contents of a human cell and analyse changes inside it, not only disease conditions and treatments.

In today's world, Ayurveda is not an alternative but a complementary therapy to the modern Medicine/ Allopathy.

Is Ayurveda energy healing?

Ayurveda is not typically categorized as a form of energy healing in the same way that practices like Reiki or Qi Gong are. Instead, Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic medicine that originated in India. It encompasses a broad range of practices, including herbal remedies, dietary guidelines, yoga, meditation, and various therapeutic techniques.

Ayurveda treatments does not manipulate patient's energy using practitioner's energy as some energy healing practices do. They help unblock and channelise patient's own energy so it can flow freely. They also emphasize balance and harmony within the body, mind, and spirit. Ayurvedic practices aim to restore and maintain this balance, promoting well-being and preventing illness. It also focuses on balancing Vata, Pitta, Kapha which are combination of 5 basic elements that underpin all matter. And all matter is energy and vice versa.

What Ayurveda refers to as energy is the Prana i.e. Life Force and Bodily Intelligence i.e. body's innate ability to carry out many internal tasks without us ever knowing about it, including self-healing.

Ayurveda also puts lot of emphasis on emotional health; in fact mind-body medicine as concept is founded in Ayurveda. Therefore, Ayurveda healing is much of a psychophysical model than new age enegery healing.

Although Ayurveda and energy healing may have different approaches, some individuals find a holistic connection between the two, as both aim to support the body's natural healing abilities and promote balance in various aspects of life.

Is Ayurveda applicable to Western context and lifestyle?

Ayurveda is even more useful to Western context. America, Germany and some European countries are leading the acceptance of Ayurveda since 2-3 decades. In India, Ayurvedic treatments are mainstream since many decades and Ayurvedic diet is embedded in daily life in some form.

Like Newton's Law of Gravity discovered in England applies everywhere, timeless Ayurvedic principles, though originated in India, are well suited to any country, any culture, as simplistically, all humans eat, excrete, think and procreate in the same way.

How Ayurvedic lifestyle and diet changes work to treat disease and restore health?

Nutrition, exercise from energy science perspective, management of altered energy states are essentials of the lifestyle changes. Alongwith use of herbs, these all serve as guides to help us interfere with the disease process and promote health.

Why is diet an integral part of Ayurveda?

Food plays vital part in our growth from a single cell at birth to the multicellular person we become. If we stop eating, we will not be sustained for long.

Therefore, simplistically speaking, we become:

1.What we eat Nutrients are extracted from the food we eat and are converted into various forms that are used to produce cells and other chemicals to sustain and grow our body.

and,

2.What we don't excrete: Complex foods we eat make it difficult for our digestive system to digest them and extract nutrients. Whatever is not digested completely, produces toxins, which accumulate in body and produce different diseases. (Of course, pathogens make us ill too.)

Therefore, as our health is highly correlated to food. right food, correct exercise and a good immune system may prevent and provide protection against many diseases. And that is where Ayurveda offers us great, practical help by suggesting proper diet and lifestyle suited to our individual constitution.

Can Ayurveda therapies work without taking herbs?

Yes, you don't have to eat herbal medications. Ayurveda offers therapies like Marma therapies which can aid in treating many conditions. Many bodywork therapies can also be used like Shirodhara for treating stress and anxiety and Kati- Basti for neck, back, knee pain relief. Abhyanga massage is highly recommended therapy for a variety of ailments and for Rejuvenation. Ayurveda also offeres diet and lifestyle recommendations based on its philosophy of 'Food is Medicine'. Herbal medications definitely work and may be necessary in some conditions. However, these may not be essential for someone who is not comfortable taking them for any reasons.

Why in some cases Ayurveda treatment requires long time to see results?

Chronic conditions like psoriasis, endometriosis, arthritis etc. may require continuation of Ayurvedic treatment for a longer time.

Such chronic conditions require a long time to manifest within the body. So they sure need some time to recover. Further, in most of the cases, patients seek Ayurvedic treatment after they have tried Allopathy for a substantial time. In that time, the disease stage has already progressed further. Therefore, in such cases, expecting quick results from Ayurveda is not realistic.

Ayurveda acts at much deeper level to treat disease and simultaneousy restore health. Therefore, trusted commitment to treatment plan and patience are the keys to results.

What is Authentic Ayurveda?

Ayusha's mission is to spread Authentic Ayurveda- as it is written and intended in original Ayurvedic texts and scriptures.

Is there any evidence for Ayurveda?

Short answer is- Yes; some research extracts are enclosed here Ayurveda can, but won't say that- 'Proof is in the pudding' or 'What evidence is required for the system that stayed in existence and is successfully practiced since 5000 years?'

USA, Germany and some other European countries have welcomed Ayurveda since many years. Quite a few doctors are now supportive of Ayurvedic principles. Govt of India has a special ministery dedicated to Ayurveda. Recognising the evidence based medicine approach, lot of research is now going on in Ayurveda. If required for any specific condition, we can procure such evidence of how certain herbal remedies can help in that condition.

Can Ayurveda treatment guarantee cure?

As per Ayurveda, health restoration is a shared responsibility between the patient and the treatment provider. Though Ayurveda treatments can produce (and I have seen) substantial improvements in many health conditions under such shared responsibility, 'Cure' is a subjective. In the same way as other health sciences including mainstream Medicine cannot guarantee complete cure of many conditions, Ayusha Ayurveda cannot guarantee complete cure. In many health conditions, if patients diligently follow the treatment plan, they will experience substantial improvements.

Are there any discounts for multiple treatments?

Yes. Multiple treatments discounts are mentioned in value packages. When it comes to chronic conditions, the best results are achieved by multiple sessions. Therefore, we provide such discounts for some treatments to reduce financial burden for patients to some extent.
