Ayurveda and Anxiety

 

Anxiety is a Vata imbalance as per Ayurveda.

Anxiety feels like bad nervous energy, butterflies in the stomach, pounding heart, worried thoughts, or outright panic. It clouds our judgement and even disturbs our life in its highly imbalanced state.

While there are views that some anxiety can have a positive impact, such positive perspective of anxiety is not easily perceived by those suffering from anxiety.

Using its psycho-physiological tools, Ayurveda provides a concrete approach to manage, reduce and even get rid anxiety. It offers profound treatments like Shirodhara to assist on this journey.

Ayusha’s Anxiety and Stress Reduction Program

  • Consultations

    After initial consultation, a treatment plan is prepared. Support is provided through a series of weekly/fortnightly appointments (3 or more as required) to ensure progress.

  • Therapies

    Ayurveda bodywork therapies-Shirodhras- are included as part of the program. Suitable strategies, lifestyle and diet changes are recommended to reduce anxiety and stress.

  • Natural Remedies

    Where indicated, simple herbal formulations are prescribed to reduce anxiety and provide more emotional control. Most of the herbs we recommend are locally available, with some ARTG listed.

Important Information

  • Patients should continue their anxiety medication and not discontinue any medications or other treatments they are having for this condition. We will coordinate with your GP or Specialist if required re complimenting Ayurveda treatment with your existing treatment plan.

  • Fees for the program will be advised in initial consultation, as type and number of bodywork therapies required can only be known after assessing your condition. As an indicative estimate, a Program comprising of 3-5 fortnightly appointment sessions, herbs for 2 months and 3 bodywork therapy sessions may cost around $1000.
