The Ayusha Difference

In every single treatment I provide, I am mindful that I am not only representing Ayurveda’s birth-place, India, but also its ancient tradition.
— Sachin (Founder, Ayusha)
  • Like Yoga, Ayurveda is now getting modified in unimaginable ways.

Let me share my 2 experiences at renowned Ayurveda centers in Sydney, as an example of un-authentic Ayurveda.

I went for a Marma massage. The therapist pressed few of the sore Marmas too hard, to the extent it was extremely painful. For every painful Marma, she provided an explanation it was related to some memory when I was in womb, then 0-5 years age, 5-10 years age and till 18 years.

Now that’s not Authentic Ayurveda. Marma therapy is a sacred energy therapy, which needs to be applied extremely carefully. It is not a remedial massage. The sore Marmas are related to various organs and systems in the body- not at all stored childhood memories.

On another occasion, I went for a Shirodhara. The equipment was tap operated- which is a first and foremost inaccurate way of administering Shirodhara. The rest of treatment just went downwards, as the practitioner was unable to maintain desired rhythm. I did not feel any relaxation at all at the end of the treatment.

Practitioners like this are not only damaging their own reputation, but are giving Ayurveda a bad name.

That’s where, I decided to practice only Authentic techniques, as prescribed in ancient texts. Being a purist, I love to maintain the originality. It also helps to spread Ayurveda in an unaltered, positive way.

Mainly it provides the intended and designed benefits to the patients/ clients, helping them on their health/wellness journey.

  • Authentic Ayurvedic practitioners/ therapists are expected to practice what they preach.

Those providing treatments must themselves be following the Ayurvedic lifestyle and routines. Such therapists can bring about desired results through the treatment due to their natural synergy with the medicine system they practice.

Such therapists innately adopt a humble approach of working only as a channel of this great healing science.Description text goes here

  • Traditional Ayurveda equipment is hand-made from medicinal wood, by following the age-old techniques and rituals.

As with any trade, proper tools deliver better outcomes, same is true for traditional Ayurveda equipment like Droni (Massage and multi-treatment table), picture below.

Profound Shirodhara treatment delivered using traditional equipment produces deeper and better results compared to modern tap-system equipment.

  • We can not comment on ‘somewhere else’. But apart from practitioner/ therapist dedication and traditional equipment, what differentiates us is our methodical approach.

Take case for Abhyanga Massage. Many feel it’s just a massage, an apparently simple treatment. For us, it’s a healing therapy.

Even when patients book it directly (i.e. without prior advise as part of treatment plan), prior to performing the treatment, we follow a detailed 6-step process to ensure that treatment matches with your desired outcomes, to make it worth for your investment in health.

Acknowledging that Ayurveda is new to Australia, we offer opportunities to ask us as many questions as you wish and we answer each of them to your satisfaction.

We follow that process for every treatment, no matter how much extra time it takes, without any extra cost.

We do this for 2 reasons- for your 100% satisfaction and to spread awareness about Ayurveda here.

Read FAQ below to know more about difference of Ayurveda massage.Item description

  • Absolutely. Whether the treatment is advised by the practitioner or you are booking it on your own, we always explain you the treatment in detail along with its risks and benefits and seek your consent for proceeding with the treatment.

Most of the treatments are explained in detail on our website for prior information. Item description

  • Whether the patient has booked directly any treatment for the first time, we always assess their constitution (Prakriti) and condition for which they are seeking the treatment. We then advice the treatment that is best suited for their condition. There is no separate cost for such assessment.

As an example, a patient may book Marma massage for back pain relief. But in assessment we may find that Kati-basti is more suitable and beneficial treatment for them; then we will definitely advise Kati-basti treatment.

By this the patient can take informed decision that best suits the outcomes they are seeking out of the treatment.

Ayusha prides itself being not a ‘massage spa/ but a ‘health spa’.

  • Definitely. We have mentioned in detail preparation required as well as aftercare advice for each treatment, on our website. Especially after-care is very important for some Ayurvedic treatments.

When you book a treatment, we will send you link to respective treatment page. Even after reading that information, if you have any questions, please feel free to call and discuss any queries. We will be delighted to answer those.

  • Ayusha Ayurveda believes in ‘Simplifying Life’. Therefore, we don’t prescribe a whole lot of prescriptions/restrictions but adopt a balanced, 2-fold approach:

We focus on a couple of key recommendations- do’s and don’ts- about food and lifestyle choices specific to your condition and health goals.

In busy modern life, its easy to get back into old habits. Therefore, to support, we do regular follow-ups with our patients, which may be a random check-in phone call to see how they are going with these recommendations.

Yes, traditional Ayurveda may prescribe many do’s and don’ts (and it may be essential in some cases), but at Ayusha we always work with the patient with a much gentler, supporting approach.

  • Generally people search for massage services using ‘massage near me’. Picture below summarizes what’s involved in Ayurvedic Massage and why its not a ‘typical massage near me’.

Ayurveda offers a range of massage therapies to cater for a variety of issues. Ayurveda massages are multidimensional- means one type of massage can be modified to solve different health issues. At Ayusha, we offer 8 different types of massage therapies.

One of the most popular is, Abhyanga Massage. It is a healing intervention/therapeutic treatment in addition to its rejuvenating, relaxing effects; not only a typical massage due to following differences:

It not only provides muscle pain relief, but aims to remove root-causes that lead to stiffness and pain.

Patient’s constitution is determined by a consultation (included in price) prior to treatment and medicated oil is used according to patient’s unique constitution and condition.

Delays ageing by improving skin health and nourishing tissues with medicated oils.

Uses deeply penetrating medicated oils prepared with may herbs, not just essential oils. This oleation of body is as important as oiling the car engine.

Stimulates and strengthens lymphatic system, improving immunity.

Removes toxic build-up in bodily channels.

Specific strokes improve circulation and channelize bodily energy flow.

Can be integrated with Marma Therapy to treat specific health conditions.

The therapist may include a surprise element that is beneficial to your health. It can be a useful health tip or item or additional treatment, on case to case basis.

  • This is a common question/misconception and hence we would write a detailed response- not just ‘it depends’.

Take case study of Belinda, 42 (name changed) - Belinda suffered from UTI symptoms since age of 16 & tried many avenues to seek recovery, with little or no relief. When she came to Ayusha, being one of the most receptive patients, she meticulously followed the treatment advise- all bodywork treatments, herbal remedies, dietary changes- and was able to experience significant relief from her symptoms in under 6 weeks.

Working only as a humble channel to this great healing science, at Ayusha we adopt a 4 pillar approach to health recovery, which produces effective results, sooner in many cases.

The extent and time for recovery varies from patient to patient and also depends upon stage of disease, diet & lifestyle factors, willingness and receptivity.

Ayurveda puts emphasis on shared responsibility between the practitioner and the patient. What it means in simpler terms is : the treatments or herbs may not give results in desired time-frame if the abuse of body is continued by consuming ultra processed foods or damaging habits, as an example.

Some patients adopt responsibility of their health, follow treatment plan by the book and achieve health recovery in desired time.

One of Ayusha’s patients, who is head trainer at Europe’s leading Ayurveda institutes put it very aptly and succinctly- If it works (may be slowly in some cases) and has no side effects- that is Ayurveda.

  • We strongly believe in ‘Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten’.

We stand by the highest quality in every service we deliver- whether health advice or massages/therapies. We never cut corners and always go an extra mile to ensure that these are delivered in purest, authentic way and use the best, organic ingredients.

We strive to maintain exceptional customer satisfaction, which is reflected in our testimonials.
