  • Our mind is an inseparable part of us yet it is very elusive and puzzling as such, as no doctor or scientist has yet been able to ‘see’ it or identify it.

How mind works for or against us has puzzled humanity since ancient times. Vedic sages have gone to its farthest depths to understand workings of the human mind and how to control it and they have provided many timeless frameworks, tools, techniques to that effect in the ancient texts written by them 5000 years ago.

Vedic Counselling uses these to help people in today’s context, as our psycho-physiological makeup is has not changed (though diseases might have changed) since those times, irrespective of the technological advancements in last few decades.

This is a brief summary of the Vedic counselling process:
The practitioner listens to understand challenges, issues faced by the patient. Working with the patient, at a pace comfortable to the patient, practitioner provides them with the tools to uncover root-causes of their issues and empowers them to remove those. He facilitates a change in the way the patient live their everyday life in order to reestablish balance.

The practitioner may use some bodywork therapies like Shirodhara or Marma Therapy or some herbal formulations to aid the emotional healing process.

Vedic Counselling broadens our understanding of ourselves and the world around us, so we can better control our mind and its emotions, thoughts, feelings and therefore our actions arising from them.

Here is a simplistic representation of how our mind plays role in shaping our reality.

Therefore, ancients texts say- the one who controls own mind is the real king of the world- isn’t that true?

  • Ayurvedic or Vedic Counselling It is a transformative life-guidance based on timeless Vedic knowledge, which empowers us to find a deeper awareness that enhances inner balance, mental clarity, and peace, facilitating healing on all levels.

Helping not only to manage and navigate through current mental health issues one is experiencing, Vedic counselling further offers guidance on right living, right action and right relationships, for better mental and physical health over long term.

It shows us a proven pathway to live in harmony with your individual nature and, with Life.

  • Vedic Counselling:

    1. Encompasses all 3 aspects of our existence- physical, emotional and spiritual. The technique is based on treating at person as a whole.

    2. Works on principle that as in a closed room, even a tiny ray of light can destroy the darkness; in same way a ray of awareness can help overcome our shortcomings.

    3. Recognizes that we all are work-in-progress and supports individual growth alongwith dealing with condition at-hand.

    4. Provides a safe space, without any judgement, where a person can share by overcoming any stigma or reservations.

  • One classical text encompasses the whole Ayurvedic counselling approach in this Sutra:

    धीधैर्यात्मादिविज्ञानं

    मनोदोषोषधं परम् |

Meaning: self-awareness is the key to better mental health.

Of course we know it can’t be that simple.

Vedic texts have written volumes to help us get a clearer understanding of this elusive , inseparable part of us called ‘Mind’.

Ayurveda further provides various tools and techniques to achieve better mental health.

  • 5000 years ago Ayurveda identified ‘Mind’ as a distinct bodily system. Knowing then its connection to physical health, Ayurveda focused on developing techniques for improving Mental health.

Psychology was introduced to modern Medicine in 1879.

Vedic texts have organised mind into its various psycho-physiological sub-components (brain including), providing more clarity and understanding of this elusive , inseparable part of us.

Modern Medicine and Psychological Sciences are focused more on understanding deeper the role of Brain in our emotions and thoughts and, are providing some great insights thorough sophisticated research.

Current research in Psychology is now proving what Ayurveda has been preaching since thousands of years:

    1. Happiness advantage: Importance of positive attitude

    2. Peace as priority and how to achieve it

    3. Gut health and its effect on mental health

    4. Positive effects of Mindfulness

    5. Self-care isn’t selfish and how to take care of your ‘self’

      just to name a few.

Whilst there are some commonalities in Vedic Counselling and modern Psychology, Vedic Counselling goes beyond ‘Mind’ and adopts a wider, holistic approach in its scope.

Vedic Counsellors are not Psychologists by training.

  • Patients should continue their existing modern medicine (Allopathy), Psychiatric or Psychologist treatments or mental health plans including medications they are prescribed. Vedic Counselling is not a replacement or substitute for such treatments.

We will coordinate with your GP or Specialist if required re complimenting Ayurveda treatment/counselling with your existing treatment plan.

  • Vedic counselling is not:

    1. Toxic positivism or wishy-washy talk.

    2. Spiritual dogma or preaching of any religion.

    3. Magic or psychic guidance

    4. Psychedelic experiences or mind-altering substances

“Body and mind are home to disease and happiness.
Pathogenic factors within the body are Vata, Pitta, Kapha while those in mind are Rajas and Tamas.

Balanced utilization of mental faculties and objects of sense organs is the cause of happiness, which is achieved only by taking recourse to patience and (Vedic) knowledge.

Healing at all levels is facilitated when we live in peaceful harmony with our individual nature and, with Life.”
