  • Our pregnancy massage is mostly performed in a comfortable seated position, with focus on back, shoulders and neck.

    A soothing Indian head massage is something to look forward to at the end of Ayusha's pregnancy massage.

    You may be required to change the positions couple of times, so we can get to all the areas that are sore or just need a therapeutic rub.

    In no case there will be any pressure on your belly and abdomen is excluded in massage.

    This massage does not include deep tissue strokes but is a very relaxing and healing experience.

    Legs are included in massage on case to case basis.

    We use lots of medicated oils, on body and for head massage.

    Massage may take 45 min but we do not watch the clock and it can go over at times.

    Massage is performed by a male practitioner.

  • Massage is not given in first trimester.

    It is recommended to have a chat with your doctor whether massage is suitable for you, as they are aware of any other conditions which may contraindicate massage for you.

    Generally, in 2nd and 3rd trimester, massage is contraindicated for anyone with:

    1. High blood pressure

    2. Thrombus

    3. Clotting disorders or family history

    4. High risk pregnancy

    5. Gestational diabetes

    6. Preeclamsia

    7. If contraindicated by your doctor

  • The number of massage sessions that a mother-to-be needs is solely depending on her wish, situation and health condition.

    Generally, a fortnightly or monthly massage is helpful in experiencing many benefits.

    • Helps ease muscle discomfort in areas such as the back, neck and shoulders

    • Relieves calf cramps

    • Strengthens the immune system

    • Helps with relaxation, which in turn decrease insomnia and fatigue

    • Helps relieve stress on weight bearing joints such as the knees/ankles

  • You can ask your partner to do gentle massage at home on back, neck and shoulders.

    Using Ayurveda oils for such massage is more beneficial or you can use just virgin coconut oil. Make sure the oil is warm for massage.

    Another useful self-massage is perineum massage to strengthen the perineum.
