Beyond Massage: The Marma at Ayusha

To the eye, a Marma session looks like a trigger-point massage. In truth it's a far more attuned, intutive practice — precise, intentional work on the body's vital points, held with real care, understanding and presence. It just doesn't address the body in isolation; instead it works with the whole person- mind, body and energetic anatomy- because what we experience, feel and hold are rarely separate stories.
It’s not just a massage but a scientifically based, timeless, proven whole-person reset — delivered bespoke to where you are at.
You leave feeling genuinely clear, relieved and freeer.
The real stories below vouch for it.

Marma is a junction point between matter and consciousness, a station where quantum body and outside world intersect.
Invisible to eyes, Marma are accessible through touch and are critical for maintaining balance throughout the body.
— Dr Deepak Chopra, M.D., Author

Science of Marma

Our body is a silent electro-biochemical laboratory. Touching a Marma point can change the biochemistry and can unfold alchemical change in one’s bodily makeup, by signalling the body to produce exactly what it needs- hormones, neurochemicals- that facilitate physical, emotional and energetic healing at deepest levels.

- Dr V Lad (Ayurvedic physician & founder of Ayurvedic Institute USA)

Trauma-Informed Marma Therapy in Sydney & Newcastle

This trauma-informed Marma Therapy practice supports clients across Sydney, Bondi, Newcastle and Hunter Valley who are seeking a body-based alternative to shift emotional stress, somatic memory and long-held trauma patterns. By combining Ayurvedic Marma point stimulation with nervous system regulation principles, the body is guided back into safety, coherence and repair. This approach works alongside psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry (not instead of) — and supports integration, embodiment and lasting emotional release in a grounded, gentle and non-invasive way.

How Marma Therapy works (Trauma, Emotional Release)

Marma Therapy helps the body release what trauma froze.
When we stimulate these vital energy points, the body opens the stuck survival loops —neural pathwways. Emotional charge /Protective bracing can finally discharge through the nervous system rather than stay stored in tissues.

Marma points are gateways of Prana — located where nerves, vessels, joints and connective structures meet.
Working on these points through therapeutic touch and other techniques activates the body’s own internal pharmacy — endorphins, hormones, enzymes + neuro-electrical impulses — the same systems your body uses to protect and restore itself.

This creates real physiological shift without needles, devices or force.
It is 100% natural, non-invasive and works by helping the body remember how to self-regulate again.

Marma therapy is deeper than acupressure or reflexology because it impacts emotional imprint, memory and somatic patterning — not just pain.

There are 117 documented Marma points — each with specific energetic linkage to body parts and systems.
The practitioner chooses the exact points to help the body unwind stored trauma, memories of abuse and recalibrate nervous system state and, rebuild inner safety — one layer at a time.

Multiple sessions are often necessary depending on severity and duration of the trauma or abuse or emotional upheaval.

How Marma Therapy works (Physical Conditions)

Marma Therapy activates the body’s self-healing systems by stimulating vital energy points where nerves, vessels, tendons, joints and bones intersect. These points are gateways of Prana — the life-force current that powers every cell.

When specific Marma points are stimulated, they trigger electrochemical responses that release natural pain-relievers (endorphins), beneficial enzymes, hormones and neuro-electrical currents — supporting recovery and restoring balance.

This is similar in concept to modern nerve stimulation therapies (like Urgent PC), but Marma therapy uses no injections, no electricity and is completely natural + non-invasive — relying only on precise touch and pressure.

Ayurveda maps 117 Marma points — each with defined therapeutic effect.
Depending on what physical condition is being addressed (musculoskeletal, digestive, sleep, circulation, inflammation, chronic pain etc), the practitioner selects the exact points required. Full body or localized application may be used. Multiple sessions may be needed depending on severity and duration of the issue.

Preparation

  • Please do not eat in 1.5-2 hours prior to appointment,

  • Use washroom prior to the start of the treatment if required.

  • Wear old clothes or bring sarong like wrap-around clothing

  • Bring a scarf or hat to wear after your treatment during winter months. Also avoid exposing to wind even in summer for some time after treatment.

  • Also have a old towel or bed sheet covering on the car seat to prevent the oil getting in contact with the car upholstery.

Treatment Process

For a particular condition to be treated, the Marma points may be located on various body parts, from head to toe.

A little oil may be used during the treatment.

After lying on the bed, the therapist locates the specific Marma points, related to the condition, with hand and then applies different stimulation techniques to these Marma points as necessary.

After-care

It is advised to relax after having the massage to gain the full benefits.

As the Marma therapy enhances the flow of life force to the specific organs for which the treatment is administered, it is important to focus on these organs and not to do anything that would aggravate them. Your therapist will advise the after-care applicable.
