Body keeps the score. Especially, negative experiences are stored as negative energies, manifesting as pain, anxiety, insomnia, insecurity and other conditions.

Somatic mapping coupled with 3 potent, time-tested Ayurveda therapies allow access to this storage and help clean-up what is not serving us anymore.

Shanti (meaning: Total Peace) massage combines the power of conversation with your body and ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. It is a highly therapeutic, meditative experience.

Somatic mapping involves a combination of techniques that embody into connecting to what is happening within you, teach you to listen to yourself.

Then, select Ayurveda therapies with generous time allocation, allow to slow down natural busy tempo & noise and, help release stored or heightened emotions, acting on our three dimensions : physical, emotional and energetic.

By guiding you to a greater inwardness, quieting or heightening your senses as necessary, to help awaken your vast latent energy (i.e. nerve currents) and making it circulate, as if bringing every body cell to life- aid letting go of deeply held damaging emotional baggage that is no longer serving you.
Shanti may help overcome deep emotional pain, transcend your current limiting beliefs, remove blockages, and negative conditioning and, open the experience of the joy inherent in freedom. This process also helps release deep trauma, however more sessions may be necessary in some cases.

Why Shanti Massage ?

Therapeutic Touch’ in Shanti Massage

Our body (mainly brain) is an incredible chemical factory. Respectful touch is the core of massage, as it acts through some of the 640,000 tactile receptors connecting skin to entire nervous system and the brain, by half a million nerves. Therapeutic Touch creates sensations which stimulate the brain to create certain chemicals in the body. Harmones like Serotonin, Dopamine, Endorphins & Oxytocin make us feel happy, triggering healing reactions in the body.

Unlike conventional massages that primarily target physical tension, Shanti massage (coupled with some add-ons) is an intentional practice thus delving into the various emotional and energetic aspects, through sensory perceptions and varying techniques. These perceptions help release healing chemicals, unlock dormant energy (circuitry) fields which may offer different health benefits. The flowing energy frees the body & mind from blockages in the process.

Important FAQs & Answers :

  • 30% savings are compared to the total of individual costs of the treatments and mapping.

Shanti is not only cost-effective but also offers a focused, impactful (and intense at times) session than having those individual treatments at separate times.

  • It is more effective in all ways.

Shanti on its own is 3 hours and may extend to 4 hours with add-ons.

Shanti offers a focused, impactful and intense session than having those individual treatments at separate times.

It is also a meditative, relaxing experience.

It allows one to pause, unwind and focus on the priorities of the inner world.

We always prioritize demands of the outer world; Shanti provides an opportunity and means to do the same for your freedom and growth.

  • Dr. Peter Levine, one of the originators in the field of somatic therapy, describes that in order to release the stress response after any hunt, female lions (who do all the hunting for the pride), wrestle around with each other extensively. This helps them to complete the stress response by allowing the body to process so much adrenaline generated.

Any negative emotions or stress in us also needs such completion. However, we tend to hold it in—or try to complete it with coffee or alcohol or social media. But that cortisol, that adrenaline, stays in our system and the only way to release it is through movement.

Thats where somatic practices of mapping, movement etc come in.

Mapping allows you to connect with your body and explore the stories stored in your body, so we can deal with those who have been negatively impacting us, unknowingly.

The practitioner will walk with you through this mapping to uncover these stories and associated emotions.

The Shanti massage then helps to release these stored emotions, through specific techniques, to gain freedom from the limitations they imposed on us.

Somatic mapping is Ayurveda equivalent of Atma-Parikshan i.e. Introspection at mind and body level.

  • At Ayusha we adopt a core approach to mapping. We want to you to make the most out of the mapping session so we can identify all areas that need attention and focus, in one session.

Most of the session is touch-less, but respectable touch may be involved at times.

It is not rushed session at all and is carried at your own pace. Generally, our mapping sessions are an hour long, but may extend in some cases.

We don't watch the clock; our aim is to get the desired outcome.

However, unlike seen in some videos, we do not engage in artistry on full canvas.

Our mapping session is aimed to provide clarity and not confusing jargon or over-the-top creativity.

    Physical

    1. Do not eat atleast 2 hours prior to massage and use toilet before showering as possible.

    2. Have warm shower before massage, which acts as a air-lock between your previous busy situation and the massage itself. It reduces carrying-on of any previous distractions to massage session.

    3. Wear comfortable clothes. Get something warm depending upon the season.

    Mental

    1. Read the information about all therapies involved. Accept the over-all nature of the massage, without any judgement.

    2. Have no special expectations. Don’t go looking for a particular feeling/s.

    3. Just let yourself go, have open mind. Complete letting go- i.e. the abandonment of any subjectivity, expectations, attitudes that are holding us back- activates the secretion of endorphins allowing us to enter into a pleasant floating-like state of and come out enriched.

    4. Inform your practitioner, even in the middle of the treatment, if some aspect of therapy is not comfortable.

    5. Before the massage begins, inform about your taboos and your no-goes or the after-effects of some illness or trauma you may have had.

    6. Spend a moment collecting your thoughts, alone or with the practitioner prior to the massage.

    7. Just be in present and enjoy the experience to get most benefits as far as possible.

  • Only you can decide which parts to be touched and how, and which to be left out according to level of your comfort.

You can choose not to involve some parts in massage at all.

Therapist will not touch these parts without your due consent.

    1. Stay warm

    2. Do not consume alcohol or coffee for atleast 3 days after treatment. Decaf coffee is ok in small quantity if can' t be avoided.

    3. It's an intense treatment. Depending upon the emotions that are suppressed, the release may vary. As example, during release one may experience more sadness, anger or melancholy feeling. What one may experience varies with every person. It's important to have someone as support with you for next 2 days who knows about the treatments you have taken and possibility of emotional release.

    4. Body will get busy and so will be mind. Look for signs that they are communicating e.g. fatigue, mood swings etc. Observe emotions that are coming out, if they are within tolerable limits, than reacting. Use the techniques shared to control or to facilitate let go of the released emotions, than reacting to them.

    5. For bodily manifestations like fatigue, localized mild pain (this is commonly referred to as healing crisis), take rest or simple pain medication.

    6. Keep well hydrated with warm water, lime/lemon juice with some salt and sugar for taste to get rid of the toxins released.
